Living like an Alien

Just recently, news of a tragic bus accident fled from all around media; 41 dead, plus other wounded parties… so melancholic, so unbelieving but nonetheless, for sure, nobody ever wanted this to happen. Among these victims was Brother Albert who was a foreign missionary whom i even got the chance to meet during a spiritual retreat; he was so inspiring and the kind that would touch one’s lives literary just by the power of his words and his undeniable sincerity.  Sadly, everything was quite inevitable.

Again, just last night, another devastating news regarding a Malaysian national caught with prohibited drugs spiced up the business of PDEA; he was guilty, but something in his eyes that seems to shout a plea makes most of the viewers shed pity on him. He was jittery while talking, a scenario wherein he seemingly was not aware of yet of course, the initial impression would be; shame on him, living on the land while having the nerve to stain justice.

Personally, my father is a Chinese man… came here for business but instantly had a family as a product of this so called love. People gradually accepted his presence as our barrio was quite a closed cornered system yet day by day, he learns, he adapts and in return, the community in my opinion, has already welcomed him completely. It’s funny how ironic and awkward seeing my dad speak our native language, love our food and silly traditions… it was cute but he would often love to chat about his own home, seats by a window by a gloomy afternoon that nearly tells me that he misses home. I remember one issue about the Korean who bravely despised Filipinos and said that we look  like monkeys and as expected, they got awful feed backs from us. I’d be biased to conclude that its okay to adopt this people because of my affiliation but really, its satisfying to share whatever we have despite the odds and consequences. They maybe are parasites in some instances but there are a lot more of them who are really willing to fall in love with our country even to the extent of spending the rest of their lives here, even to have the last moments of their existence.
